Simulated Environments Testing Services
Testing services encompass all types of simulated environmental conditions for product development, evaluation and certification.
Acoustical Testing for Product Noise Control: Includes noise emission levels, measurement of existing
products and prototype models, and product certification testing.
Acoustical Materials Testing – Measurement of sound absorption coefficients and evaluation of
damping materials.
High-Intensity Acoustic Testing – Testing of equipment to determine functionality when exposed
to intense (up to 160dB) acoustic noise fields that can induce sonic fatigue.
Environmental Testing: Testing of prototype and production components and equipment for sustained acceleration,
temperature, humidity, altitude, temperature/humidity, temperature, altitude, salt fog, fungus, sand, and dust environments
per MIL-STD-810, ANSI, ISO and other standards.
Seismic Testing and Analysis: Seismic testing is conducted in accordance with IEEE-344 and other
standards on EDI's biaxial hydraulic vibration system. Class 1E equipment weighing up to 5,000 pounds can be subjected to
specified Safe Shutdown Earthquake seismic levels (input to and response of test articles is measured as Shock Response Spectra).
EDI also performs static seismic analysis for equipment that can be certified by engineering analysis, rather than testing.
Shock Testing: EDI performs both classical shock and Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) testing per MIL-STD-810.
Vibration Testing: Sine, random and mixed-mode testing per MIL-STD-810 on electromagnetic shakers
with capacity up to 10,000 force-pounds.
Fixture Design: Design and fabrication of vibration and shock test fixtures, and apparatus for life
cycle testing.
Design Solutions: Analysis, testing, evaluation and modification of existing or prototype designs for
increased reliability, reduced production costs, or to comply with specific noise or vibration requirements.
